“And on her forehead a name was written, a mystery: “BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF PROSTITUTES (false religions, heresies) AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.” I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of the saints (God’s people), and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus [who were martyred]. When I saw her, I wondered in amazement.”

Todays Prayer & Reflection:
What do you feel like evil looks like? Have you ever imagined evil looking appealing? Evil is deceiving, decorated and all dressed up to lead you down a path to death, disease and destruction. It’s deceiving and will lead you to believe it is the answer to your problems - and not the success of your dreams! Whatever we place in front of the Lord and instead of Jesus Christ becomes our idol, our sin and our Babylon!
Okay so it may seem pretty hard to think about it like that, but think about some of your most natural dreams. Successful sports person maybe lead to play on Sunday mornings and take you away from Church. Developed business plans can lead to lengthy discussions and meetings away from home taking you away from your loved ones and family. Career plans, high school goals and successful business does not necessarily lead you straight to Babylon, but it leads you gradually, slowly and unconsciously towards the wrong direction.
Instead we can be made more aware through accountability and self awareness by making conscious decisions to safeguard and guide us towards Jesus. Yes daily devotions, prayer partners and small groups can lead you in the right direction. Within the Methodist tradition we believe in bands which form the ethos of the Holy Club of the Wesleyan movement. This brings to us community, growth and healing towards Christ and away from Babylon! Hallelujah!
Let us Pray….
Father God we thank you for today. This is the day we make a difference in our selves, in our society and in our world because we choose you over and above other people in Jesus name. Amen
