Todays Verse:
“Therefore, I strongly urge the elders among you [pastors, spiritual leaders of the church], as a fellow elder and as an eyewitness [called to testify] of the sufferings of Christ, as well as one who shares in the glory that is to be revealed:”

Reflection:
In addition to Paul’s teachings being recorded on Eldership, the Apostle Peter, on which Christ promised to build his Church, also offers excellent teaching, leadership and pastoral care insights for us to follow. The introduction immediately to 1 Peter’s offers real insight into what it costs to be an Elder, the sacrifice, the reality and the calling to be an Elder is quite different to other roles in the Church. The teaching in 1 Titus complement Peter’s teachings and Paul’s style of writing, although more direct and defined, does not contradict 1 Peter. If you apply Paul’s teachings through the lense of 1 Peter, and also Matthew 5 and 8, our next review on Eldership from Christ Jesus our Lord, you can identify the true calling of becoming a Church Elder.
It is a misconception if we believe that all Christian leaders must be paid, ordained and fully trained by a theological institution to be able to Preach the Gospel. It helps, but we all are called to go from town to town, always and everywhere to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. In the first instance, we must always ask what did Jesus do? If you look at the way Christ built his Church, the very first disciples, it was not built on rank, religion or ritual. It was built on relationship. Firstly, take the Disciples relationship with Christ himself. As Jesus teaches us as the first most important and sacred rule of any elder it is to Love God first. Jesus when questioned said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets (Matthew 22:37-40).” Your relationship with God must be first. Jesus must be the first love of your life.
Today, as we approach our day of Worship to our Lord & Savior, we must do the Good Works of the Lord everyday, not just on a Sunday. We are called “to testify of the sufferings of Christ, as well as one who shares in the glory that is to be revealed” to the world. Everywhere and on all occasions we are to share the Truth of the Gospel. So let us not be shy about the day that is approaching and share with all those whom we love that Jesus loves them, died for them and is available to them offering Salvation in Jesus name. Amen
Let us Pray…
Father God we thank you that you sent your one and only Son to die for us today. To send us out to Preach the Good News at the returning of Jesus Christ comes closer and Heaven invades the Earth we love you, seek you and surrender to you our lives again this day and everyday in Jesus name. Amen
For who has known the mind and purposes of the Lord, so as to instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ [to be guided by His thoughts and purposes]. [Is 40:13]”
