Today’s Verses are from Revelation 7!

Todays Verse:“After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree.” ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭7‬:‭1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Todays Prayer & Reflection:

Getting Active Outside This Summer

When we contemplate what we need to do to take part in exercise, we sometimes make excuses that are easier than the activity itself.

In winter, it's the need for warmth and holding onto those extra hours in bed under the blankets.

In spring, it's the showers and changing seasonal weather.

In fall, it's the beginning of leaves falling and our motivation falling with it.

However, summer offers us hope, motivation, and a really good reason to get active!

It's SUMMER! Sunshine, longer days, extended time with loved ones, and of course, the dawn and dusk that keep us happy and all the serotonin to make us smile!

This summer, we can make our exercise routines simple by reducing barriers to activity.

We don’t need to be outside to exercise, but it’s so much easier to go on long walks, swim, and participate in some of our favorite high school activities like tennis, running, or even a game of baseball or basketball.

The opportunity is here, the season is here, and this is your summer!

The activity can be daunting when going outside, perhaps because of how we feel about our bodies.

It doesn’t matter what size, shape, or age we are – we all have insecurities about how we look.

This summer, let’s try approaching it this way: as we expose ourselves, we exercise ourselves.

The more we move, the more we gain. The more we step outside, the more we get fitter, stronger, and more active.

Nobody is doubting the daunting task of running into people we may see or how we may feel, but the fact that we can build a habit and move every day in the warmer weather means we will get better and build back stronger.

Whatever fears we have or doubts we may find in ourselves, notoriously nobody else is thinking about them – so let’s get outside this summer and let’s get active!

To help us move this summer, I have created some motivational ways for us to walk, swim, or cycle more easily.

Option One: Walking - we can simply walk to our local shop, convenience store, or coffee shop and work outside for the afternoon if we work remotely. If we work out of the office, we can take a walk on our lunch break and take the chance to get some vitamin D as we walk – not forgetting to wear sunscreen as we go!

Option Two: Find out where your local outdoor pool is, inquire about membership for the summer, and seek out the most affordable option for you. As we begin summer right here at Memorial Day, most pools are open until Labor Day. Find out where your nearest pool is and begin your swimming summer journey!

Option Three: Cycling on trails or routes around your neighborhood. Find out if you can rent bikes, join a good cycling group on Meetup, or seek to buy a bike from your local store. Once you have your bike, prepare with a helmet and necessary safety gear with appropriate high visibility and comfortable attire for your journey!

Please share your stories with us and post on our social media how your summer activity is going! We would love to hear how you’re doing! We are rooting for you, we are in your corner, and on your side!

For who has known the mind and purposes of the Lord, so as to instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ [to be guided by His thoughts and purposes]. [Is 40:13]”
