Prayer & Reflection:
This Spring has seen me serve as an Assistant Coach and Chaplin to our local Varsity Tennis Team. We have progressed through the season with an incredible record of 16-0 prior to last weekends final which we were drawn as favorites. This was a complete turnaround from our previous ranking of not even being seeded in the top twenty five teams in our state. We had become the favorite after not even being recognized. It reminded me of my relationship to God and the infamous Amazing Grace Chorus I was once lost and now I am found!
The days of feeling lost are common for most of us. Can you you relate to wondering through days without feeling much of anything, feeling as though your work has little impact or potentially that you are not following the path you think God has for you?! If any of these feelings resonate with you I know exactly how you feel. The depths of deep longing for fulfillment, purpose and a clear pathway forward I feel are common for lots of us humanoids.
We all face some form of lost feeling and it’s how we find our way to the way to God that matters most.If we continuously willow in self pity and become even more lost we get further away from the path we feel called to follow. Yet, the grass is not always greener necessarily on the other side, but have we even stepped out onto our own grass or are we still left inside with nowhere to go.
My point isn’t necessarily going to the other side. It’s being in one place at one time where you feel safe, secure and able to sustain a life which is not always constantly changing, fluctuating and causing you to feel exhausted. The process to finding complete and utter happiness is what some people may call this kind of pursuit. There have been films, documentaries and all sorts of trade publications about it, but what if we just want to be recognized, known and loved. Not necessarily rich, famous or focused on celebrity culture. Just loved for who we are.
What if we just want to be loved? It’s not a big deal maybe to you, but perhaps you don’t know Gods love. His perfect love which casts out all fear. It’s not to do with punishment or the pursuits of consumerism. It’s to do with your Heavenly Father, your creator and your true author who loves you, knows you and wants to comfort you today. My Brothers and Sisters I hope you know His love for you and that it sets you truly free, makes sure every tear gets wiped away and that all things are made new!
It turned out that we won the State Championships last Saturday, we became for a moment famous in our unique little bubble and all of a sudden we realized we needed to get back to thanking God. To not being self-righteous and instead to become Champions of sharing Gods love both that day, the next day and everyday fourth to go and love and serve the Lord in the name of Christ Jesus our Lord! Amen
Let us Pray…
Father God we repent today of pursuing something more than ourselves, something different from you and something outside of your will. Whether that is seeking to become rich, famous or just professionally recognized we know these goals are not necessarily be sins Father, but they just may get in the way of you, our first love. Help us to follow you, to become more like you and to be less like this world that we now see. Help us to be divinely inside and following your will and always echoing your ways in our lives everyday in Jesus name. Amen
