Prayer & Reflection:
Have you seen God? Have you heard God? Do you know God? Throughout scripture, especially in the Old Testament, if we were to encounter the living God it would not be through site. Some part of the OT referenced the site of God to the High Priest only being permissible as seeing the Living God (the Father).
“But your wickedness has separated you from your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood And your fingers with wickedness [with sin, with injustice, with wrongdoing]; Your lips have spoken lies, Your tongue mutters wickedness.”
Isaiah 59:2-3 AMP
Perhaps in the New Testament it was easier when the Disciple heard God through the words of Jesus (God the Son) or known as God by the Savior of the World or in today’s message as Immanuel. God with us.
“Six days later Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John the brother of James, and led them up on a high mountain by themselves. [Mark 9:2-8; Luke 9:28-36] And His appearance changed dramatically in their presence; and His face shone [with heavenly glory, clear and bright] like the sun, and His clothing became as white as light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Jesus.”
Matthew 17:1-3
To truly know God we must trust God and receive the Holy Spirit through justice and mercy, through Gods truth and peace of the Gospel with which we have open access through the revelation and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
“For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves [merely] as your bond-servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give us the Light of the knowledge of the glory and majesty of God [clearly revealed] in the face of Christ. [Gen 1:3] But we have this precious treasure [the good news about salvation] in [unworthy] earthen vessels [of human frailty], so that the grandeur and surpassing greatness of the power will be [shown to be] from God [His sufficiency] and not from ourselves.”
2 Corinthians 4:5-7 AMP
This Summer let us not just wish to see or hear acts from and of God, but to truly know God and to be fully known by him. Lets run the race marked out before us with joy and perseverance to run a race that will lead to the Victors Crown of Jesus Christ overcoming death and setting us free! Hallelujah! In Jesus name. Amen
Let us Pray…
Father in Heaven we love you and seek you first. Please help us O Lord to petition heaven and pursue you in everything we see and do. Help us Lord to see the world from your eyes. Help us to have an eternal view so that our eyes are fixed on you Jesus with our every thought, every perspective and every prayer in Jesus name. Amen
For who has known the mind and purposes of the Lord, so as to instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ [to be guided by His thoughts and purposes]. [Is 40:13]”
